Hina is an application that leverages the traditional Maramataka lunar phases, providing insights rooted in Māori cultural practices. With Te Reo Māori as the default language for each phase, it offers users a window into ancestral knowledge that has guided Māori for generations in activities such as planting, fishing, and daily living.

The platform adopts an interactive approach to lunar observation, assisting users in identifying appropriate times for various essential activities based on the moon’s cycles.

Developed as a complementary guide, Hina features alternative names for the lunar phases in various languages, reflecting Polynesia's historical reliance on the Maramataka system. This system played a vital role in navigation, resource management, and survival strategies among ancestors who integrated these lunar observations into their way of life.
