The platform adopts an interactive approach to lunar observation, assisting users in identifying appropriate times for various essential activities based on the moon’s cycles.

Developed as a complementary guide, Hina features alternative names for the lunar phases in various languages, reflecting Polynesia's historical reliance on the Maramataka system. This system played a vital role in navigation, resource management, and survival strategies among ancestors who integrated these lunar observations into their way of life.

Hina represents an ongoing initiative aimed at evolving as a resource that illuminates how Māori and other Polynesian communities historically engaged with the moon, fostering a deeper understanding of ancestral practices and environmental rhythms.
